This page describes how to connect patch cables between components in Pathfinder using the drag and drop method.

There are multiple ways to create network cabling in Pathfinder but they all fall under either the (1:n) or (n:n) connection rule. The patch cabling can be done from the cable management section or from the cabinet itself. In Pathfinder, there is always many different ways to do things.

First, a simple 1:1 single port connection. Simply drag and drop the source port on top of the destination port.

You can select and hold the source port from a component and then drag and drop it on the destination port of a component to begin the network connection.

Once you have selected the two ports, you can then select the cable definition (1).

A cable definition is suggested by Pathfinder based on the source and destination port types.

You can assign a name to your cable, check for the uniqueness of your cable name and print a barcode to label your physical network cable.

The connection overview is available here (2).

Once all the selections are complete, click on finish to complete your single network cable connection.

Multiple Patching

Image Added

You can create (n:n) multiple network cable connection simultaneously by holding the left-click mouse button and dragging over the ports, or by holding down Left Shift or Ctrl button and clicking to select the ports.

To create multiple network connections between two components, selects the ports and click parallel patching.

Note that for parallel patching the number of source ports and destination ports must be same.
