Component Instance

Note

When you edit or delete a component definition, it influences all component instances present in the active network that are based on that definition.

Please check the number of instances corresponding to the component definition, exist in your network documentation, before making any changes.  

Instances are real network objects which is displayed and documented in Pathfinder and are always based on a component definition.

You can manage the component instances by clicking on the ”” button in the number of instances field.


Component Instance Properties

The component instance properties describe some of the more important properties of a switch component here:

Definition: Name of the component definition from which this instance is based on.

Name: Name of the component instance. The vendor designated name is assigned by default.

Full Name: Assign a name to the component.

Description: Write a short description about the component.

Comment: Write a comment about the component.

EAN: Assign the component EAN (European Article Number).

Tags: Assign tags to the component.

MAC address: Assign a MAC address to the component.

IP address: Assign an IP address to the component.

Operating system: Assign the component’s operating system.

Mass [kg]: Assign the weight of the component in kg.

Power consumption [W]: Assign the power consumption of the component in W.

Heat emission [BTU/h]: Assign the heat emission of the object in BTU/h.

Configuration: Assign configuration information.

Purchase date: Assign the purchase date.

Cost center: Assign the cost center of the object.

Warranty: Assign a warranty file to the component.

Inventory no.: Assign an inventory number to the component.

Serial no.: Assign the component’s serial number.

Service no.: Assign the service number.

Value: Assign a value to the component.

Depreciation date: Select the depreciation date of the component.

installation date: Assign the installation date of the component.

Warranty contract: Assign the warranty contract.

Warranty ends: Select the warranty end date.

Cycle: Assign the component cycle.

Last maintenance: Note the late maintenance date.

known issues: Describe any known issues with the component.

Responsible contact: Assign a contact person for the component.

Color: Select the color for the component in Pathfinder.

Usage: View the port usage for used/unused (free) ports.

Usage in [%]: View number of ports occupied in percentage.

Threshold in [%]: Assign the instance threshold for this component.

Reached threshold in [%]: View the threshold in percentage.

URL: Assign a URL link to the component.

External reference no.: Assign other external references.

Bookmark: Bookmark for the component used to instantly locate the component in Pathfinder. Also works as a URL link for web browsers.

UID: Unique identifier

Documents: Assign documents related to the component.

Permissions: Assign user permissions and access privileges.

Consecutive naming no.: View the naming number of the component.
