Line definitions are templates for the connection of unassembled cables. In a line definition, basic line features are defined, which include:

  • number of wires/fibers
  • visibility
  • wire/fiber type (e.g. copper, single mode or gradient fiber)
  • protocol/quality (e.g. speed, wave length)

Access the function Manage line definitions via the catalog section on the Dashboard. First a list of all existing line definitions in the catalog is displayed.

Using the respective function (1) new line definitions can be created or imported from the online catalog and existing ones can be deleted. To edit a slot type just double click it.

Please note: Line definitions, which are currently in use, cannot be deleted or edited.

Importing pre-defined line definitions from the online catalog makes your network documentation easier. Please use the online catalog to avoid inconsistencies and data duplication.

New line definitions can be imported from the online catalog. Before creating new line definitions, please check, if they already exist there. Select the line definitions you need and click on Import. Line definitions already existing in your local catalog will appear greyed out.

When creating a new line definition, enter name, wire/fibre count and type and optionally a description. Decide whether the line type should be visible and manage the qualities of the line type using and – (2).

Editing a line definition does not differ much from creating one. A similar dialog will open already containing the data of the selected line definition.
