[TBD] User Interface Dashboard

This page describes the Pathfinder User Interface.

The user interface consists of various modules and sections that can be used to easily make your way throughout the different functions of the Pathfinder software.


 

 


 

The simple navigation bar

The Home Icon always leads you back to the Dashboard.

You can use the left right Arrow Icons to navigate back and forth between the previous and last positions respectively.

The Star Plus Icon can be used to generate bookmarks of your current position.


 

 

The location bar

The Location bar always shows a cascading view of your current position and lists the next possible positions in the nested infrastructure.

Clicking on overview will take you back to the top level of the infrastructure hierarchy.


 

The search bar

The Search bar is used to search for any object within Pathfinder such as: Locations, Buildings, Floors, Rooms, Component Definitions, Components, Ports, Cables, Trays, Work orders, IP Addresses, Subnets, Documents, Tags, Tag groups, Network paths, etc.


 

The user information

Clicking on the dummy image next to the user name will open the user information menu in Options where you can change the user details and set a new password.


 

The sidebar

The Sidebar on the left hand side of the screen allows quick access to some important functions in Pathfinder. They can also be accessed with shortcut keys. The sections are as follows:

Navigation: The navigation section (Alt +N) allows easy navigation between locations, buildings, floors and rooms.

Local catalog: The local catalog (Alt + C) consists of all the component definitions that has been imported from the online catalog.

Work order: The work order section (Alt + W) is used to manage assigned tasks to user.

Search: The search section (Alt + S) functions just like the search bar. Any object in Pathfinder can be search for from here.

Bookmarks: The bookmarks section (Alt + B) contains all the positions bookmarked using the star plus icon.

Reports: The reports section (Alt + P) allows creation and management of pre-defined, instance-based, rule-based and SQL-based reports.

Tags: The tags section (Alt + T) consists of predefined tags. New tags can be created here as well.

History: The history section (Alt + H) shows all changes made to the network and infrastructure.

Network map: The network map (Alt + M) is used to passively depict the connections of the PCs, switches and servers in the network.

IPAM: The IPAM section (Alt + I) is used to manage and allocate IP addresses and VLANs to different networks.

Security: The security section (Alt + O) is used to allow read, write and delete privileges to users and groups.

The map

You can use the Map on the center of the screen to locate your company's locations and any buildings that have been created.

You can click and drag the map. You can zoom in and out with the mouse wheel or the zoom icons on the map (a). You can also adjust for best fit and enter the design mode from here.


 

The main functions

On the right hand side of the screen are the most important Functions used to import and export component definitions, create infrastructure, manage patch cables, trays and network services, analyze and generate reports, check system properties, and more.


 

The support area

In the Support area you will find help with software documentation, account license information, email support and remote support. Please reach out to us with your questions whenever you are stuck on any task in Pathfinder.


 

The data overview

In the bottom left area of the screen, My data summarizes the infrastructure, components and size of your network. Clicking any of the icons will open an overview window for the respective instances in your network.


 


 

The version information

The version information at the bottom of the application window displays the license owner information, the current database in use and the application version.
