Pathfinder Server Installation

Start the installer and follow the instructions of the setup wizard. First select a folder where you want to install Pathfinder Server in:

In the following dialog you can choose if you want to create a shortcut on your desktop and in the taskbar:

Please confirm your selection in the following dialog by clicking on "Install". If you want to change any of the option, klick on "Back":

Afterwards the files will be copied to the destination directory.

In the next dialog, please make sure that checkbox "Pathfinder Server Configuration" is checked.
Click on "Finish" to complete the installation and start the configuration:

   

Please click on "Next" in the following dialog to get to the license selection screen:

In the following dialog, please choose "Select File" and click on the folder icon. Select your license file and click on "Next" to set up you database connection.

Hint

You can complete the setup without selecting a license, however, you will not be able to connect mobile devices to the server without a valid license. You can rerun the configuration wizard anytime if you want to add or change your license. Open the Windows Start Menu and select the shortcut to Pathfinder Server →  

Please enter you the credentials to your pathfinder database. Click on "Test Connection" to verify that the pathfinder database can be accessed. Click on "Next" to set up the SSL certificate por all web pages related to Pathfinder Server.


You can choose between the Quick Configuration to generate and use a self signed localhost certificate or choose a custom certificate from a file or to use an already generated certificate from the Certificate Manager on Windows. Afterwards click on "Finish" to save the current configuration and close the setup wizard.


Hint

After you have changed the configuration, Pathfinder Service will restart and re-index the database. During this process, the server cannot serve requests to mobile clients. Depending on the size of the database and the connection quality, it may take some time until the server becomes available. You can watch the progress in the Web UI

Update

To update you installation of Pathfinder Server, follow the steps above. If the following dialogs appear, please select "Yes":

Continue with the installation, your license data and database settings will be preserved.

Network-Configuration

Hinweis

Pathfinder Server uses TCP Port 8087 for the communication with the mobile clients. Please make sure that this port is not blocked by a firewall. If you use the built-in Windows firewall, Pathfinder will try to adjust the configuration automatically.
