This page describes the home section and the user interface dashboard of Pathfinder.



The simple navigation bar

  • The Home Icon always leads you back to the Dashboard.

  • You can use the Left/Right Arrow Icons to navigate back and forth between the previous and last positions respectively.

  • The Star Plus Icon can be used to generate bookmarks of your current position.


The location bar

The Location bar always shows a cascading view of your current position and lists the next possible positions in the nested infrastructure.

Click on Overview to take you back to the top level of the infrastructure hierarchy.


The search bar

The Search bar is used to search for any object within Pathfinder such as: Locations, Buildings, Floors, Rooms, Component Definitions, Components, Ports, Cables, Trays, Work orders, IP Addresses, Subnets, Documents, Tags, Tag groups, Network paths, etc.


The user information

Click on the dummy image next to the user name to open the user information tab from the /wiki/spaces/~630090609/pages/2366537755menu. You can change the user details and set a new password here.


The sidebar

The Sidebar on the left hand side of the screen allows quick access to some important functions in Pathfinder. They can also be accessed with shortcut keys. The modules are as follows:

  1. Navigation: The navigation module (Alt +N) displays the nested infrastructure of instances in Pathfinder and allows easy navigation between locations, buildings, floors, rooms and components.

  2. Local catalog: The local catalog module (Alt + C) consists of all the component definitions that has been imported from the online catalog. You can use these component definitions to create components instances in the Pathfinder network.

  3. Work order: The work order module (Alt + W) is used to manage and assign tasks to user.

  4. Search: The search module (Alt + S) functions just like the search bar. Any object in Pathfinder can be searched for here as well.

  5. Bookmarks: The bookmarks module (Alt + B) contains all the positions bookmarked using the star plus icon.

  6. Reports: The reports module (Alt + P) allows creation and management of pre-defined, instance-based, rule-based and SQL-based reports and report templates.

  7. Tags: The tags module (Alt + T) consists of predefined tags. New tags can be created and managed here as well.

  8. History: The history module (Alt + H) holds a log of all changes made in the Pathfinder network.

  9. Network map: The network map module (Alt + M) is used to passively depict the connections of the PCs, switches and servers in the network.

  10. IPAM: The IPAM module (Alt + I) is used to manage and allocate IP addresses and VLANs for different networks.

  11. Security: The security module (Alt + O) is used to allow read, write and delete privileges to users and groups.
