Patch ports individually

The function "patch ports individually" in the section "cable management" opens a wizard that helps you patch two ports. If you want to generate a single connection between two endpoints (1 to 1 connection) please proceed as follows:

  • Tick the boxes to select the source and target components. To select single components, you need to make a selection in the following sections: location, building, floor, room. Once you have made your selection, all ports of the respective components will be shown
Click on  >> in front of the respective box to transfer your selection from the left to the right side.
  • Choose your port and click on "next".
  • Choose the patch cable. If this patch cable is already defined in the catalog, it will be offered in the selection menu. Alternatively, you can generate a new cable definition with the button "add new cable definition"
  • In the next step, you define the fiber groups an fibers and move on to bundle overview.
  • Assign connectors: Since you can specify which patch cable you would like to use when patching ports indvidually, you can also select which connectors (cable ports) are to be assigned to which sockets (component ports). This step is necessary when using Y-cables (e.g. DCD-socket to two SC sockets).

Patch multiple ports

This wizard helps you to patch muliple ports at once (n:n connection, also "parallel patching"). You can find the command "patch multiple ports" on the initial screen in the section "cable management".
Please remember that you can only select ports of the same type and the number of source and target ports needs to be the same. To generate multiple patch connections, please follow these steps:

  • Tick the boxes to select the source and target components. To select single components, you need to make a selection in the following sections: location, building, floor, room. Once you have made your selection, all ports of the respective components will be shown.
  • Select the ports you would like to patch. (The assignment of source and target ports will be made in the next window so you do not have to consider it yet.) Click on "next".
  • Choose the patch cables. If these patch cables are already defined in the catalog, they will be offered in the selection menu. Alternatively, you can generate a new cable definition with the button "add new cable definition". Use  drag & drop to position and link the source and target ports.
  • Finalize the patching of multiple ports with "finish".
